Dig Deeper: Bible Trail Introduction

This page contains additional information on the topic designated above. The set of lectures in both the Science and Bible Trails contains robust presentations but choices were made regarding what to cover so the talks would be a reasonable length.  Dig Deeper pages allow one to more thoroughly investigate topics of particular interest. The resources below are in no particular order and one need only target those of interest.

Note: This website is new and the Dig Deeper pages are in the early stages of development.  A few live topics are available and a list of future topics may be given at the end.  Even when this site is complete, the Dig Deeper pages will continually change as new information becomes available.

Young Earth versus Old Earth Creationism – A Theological Look

When the first chapter of Genesis says God created everything in 6 days, how should the word “day” be interpreted?  Should it be interpreted as a 24-hour day or a long period of time?  This series takes a “long period of time” interpretation.  This talk explores the issue from a literary and theological perspective, rather than a scientific one.  Unlike the other talks in this series that are geared for a general audience, this talk may only be meaningful to a Christian audience or those familiar with Christian theology.  The interpretation of “day” is an area of strong debate in some Christian circles.  If you are involved in Christian leadership or teaching, I recommend listening to this talk even if you are comfortable with the long period of time interpretation, as you will likely encounter this issue.
